![]() Starting a chapter takes a lot of work and isn’t easy, but having the skills and connections that I do, trust that the chapter is in good hands. Being a leader since my freshman year at HPU, I will take the skills I’ve accumulated and apply them to advance this chapter to the best of my ability. and HPU expects us to serve our communities. We will uphold that standard as Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. ![]() Having the privilege to serve on this campus means that I and the brothers of Phi Pi are held to a standard that puts us above everyone else, especially as a black Greek organization. On campus, we plan to continue collaborating with other campus organizations to develop relationships that will benefit the community and develop social relationships.Īs a proud charter member of this organization I hope to make a lasting impact on High Point University and the surrounding community. We will achieve this by volunteering our time and talent to community partners, as we see this is the best way to learn about and support them. The Phi Pi chapter is actively looking for ways to partner with members of the community to learn about their needs so that we can build relationships and provide sustainable solutions over time. This includes partnering with the Black Student Union on a 3v3 basketball tournament, with the proceeds going to local chapter of Big Brothers, Big Sisters of America. Through our activities and events, The Phi Pi chapter has already enacted the mission and aims of the fraternity and has collaborated with other organizations to promote unity within the HPU community. The Mission Statement of the Fraternity is to “develop leaders, promote brotherhood and academic excellence, while providing service and advocacy for our communities.” “Manly Deeds, Scholarship and Love for All Mankind,” are the aims and “First of All, Servants of All, We Shall Transcend All” is our motto. We were the first chapter charted in North Carolina in nearly 10 years. We are an international organization with roughly 300,000 brothers and on March 26, 2022, the Phi Pi Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc was chartered on the campus of High Point University. It was founded at Cornell University in Ithaca, New York on December 4, 1906. is the first Black intercollegiate fraternity. The chapters are listed in Greek alphabet order but can be sorted to date order by using the arrows in the section header.Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. Chapters are located in the United States unless otherwise indicated. This list is a merger of Eaton, Baird, and other sources. Eaton often fills in those blanks, but tends to list institutions by place name only which presents a different set of challenges. ![]() Baird also lists charter dates, but leaves the institution's name blank in some instances. For example, Baird lists Mount Union College as Sigma Second but does not list Sigma Prime or the two other Sigma chapters that predated Mount Union. He documented chapters and name changes that were unknown to William Raimond Baird when he published the first edition of his Baird's Manual of American College Fraternities in 1879. įlor In 1877, James Eaton constructed a multi-part history of the fraternity for the Crescent magazine from his memory as the founder of multiple chapters, from the fraternity's records, and interviews with living chapter founders. Because all records from Alpha Prime were lost and Alpha Third was lax in record keeping and ended in scandal, there are gaps in information, especially from 1858 to 1875. Other chapters selected names and began operating without authorization from the national fraternity some were eventually authorized, while others were dispatched. There are at least two incidents of the same name being issued simultaneously. In the early years of Delta Tau Delta, chapter names were assigned, removed, and reassigned in rapid succession. ![]()
